Chloride Group continues expansion in Asia with operations launched in the Philippines

Makati City, Philippines - The Chloride Group, an international leader in secure power solutions listed on the London Stock Exchange, has launched operations in the Philippines as part of its strategic move to grow its UPS (uninterruptible power supply) market share in the Asia Pacific region.

Expanding its operations to the Philippines is part of Chloride’s strategy to focus on new and emerging geographical markets and economies. The company believes the region to be an ideal platform for expansion.

According to Chloride president Lamberto Tassara, the region is an attractive market for Chloride especially since the Asia Pacific market represents 25% of the worldwide UPS market, which accounts for at least 12% of Chloride revenue.

“With business research company Frost & Sullivan forecasting the world UPS (uninterruptible power supply) industry to grow at an average company growth rate of 8.6% over the next five years, clearly we need to develop our presence in the region to further boost our growth and develop our secure power solutions here,” Tassara explained.

Based on this projected growth, Chloride opened its South East Asian headquarters in Singapore early last year, followed by a representative office in Vietnam and most recently establishing itself in the Philippines.

Key industries

Chloride sees the Philippines as one with the largest UPS markets in South East Asia. Being an attractive location for Busienss Process Outsourcing data centres and contact centres, the company believes that this creates a greater need for secure power solutions.

“It’s still business-as-usual for many key industries like BPO despite the economic crunch,” explains Didier Chalumeau, Chloride country manager for the Philippines. “We plan on providing quality secure power solutions tailored to best suit the regions businesses.”

Chalumeau added that Chloride Philippines will focus on marketing its key products and services and the development of the Chloride business through Chloride’s distributors and partners in the Philippines, in addition to its own customers.

“For the moment we are strongly focusing on our UPS business as our main product line, together with other key services such as maintenance contracts, batteries, harmonic filters, static transfer switches (STS), among others,” shared Chalumeau.

“Having presence in these key areas gives us an opportunity to embrace the needs of our customers, thus allowing us to provide tailored solutions with value-added services that truly meet the specific requirements of our customers,” added Chalumeau. “We are looking forward to sharing our expertise and delivering our enhanced UPS solutions and service capabilities to a broader customer base in the region, especially here in the Philippines.”
