European UPS Company of the Year 2007
Chloride is the recipient of the Frost & Sullivan European UPS Company of the Year Award 2007 for the exceptional growth in all aspects of its business.
This award is presented each year to the company that has most clearly demonstrated excellence within the UPS industry. This is judged on an extensive range of key business criteria encompassing product innovation, competitive strategy, business growth, service and leadership.
Chloride is a leading supplier in the European medium to large UPS market and holds the second largest market share in the European three-phase market. It is also a market leader for industrial UPS systems. In 2007 its European business grew by three times the market average growth rate of 7.0%.
During the past year the Company has increased the power range of its highly successful 80-NET transformer-free UPS systems. It has also extended the scope of its industry leading LIFE.net UPS remote monitoring and diagnostics service to offer a remote monitoring capability for standby generator sets and multi-vendor UPS. Other important developments and initiatives have been the introduction of Power Lan Green, a UPS with an energy efficiency of 97% in AC/AC mode, and the entering into strategic working partnerships with suppliers of alternative energy storage solutions including flywheel and fuel cell technologies.
Indeed, Chloride was particularly commended by Frost & Sullivan for its green strategy. It was the first and, to date, the only UPS company to sign the European Code of Conduct to improve energy efficiency and minimise energy consumption of the UPS. Chloride even recycles the energy used in UPS witness testing at its Bologna facility. Environmental responsibility and sustainability are at the heart of its core values.
A major element in Chloride’s winning formula is its commitment to provide an exceptionally high standard of customer support and service. The Company boasts over 250 highly experienced, factory trained technical service engineers in Europe and over 500 engineers worldwide. It has direct service support in 18 countries and authorised service providers in another 60 countries ensuring prompt provision of services.
In 2007, the Chloride Academy opened its doors to provide staff and business partners worldwide with appropriate skills and knowledge for the power protection arena. Such efforts by the company show the value it places in its people and reputation.
Malavika Tohani, Industry Analyst and Team Leader, Energy and Power Systems Group, Frost & Sullivan, commented:
''With services accounting for 33% of the company's revenues and 70% of the product sales generated by products introduced less than 3 years ago, Chloride's reputation is built on its varied and reliable product offering as well as the highly skilled technical staff providing the best-in-class service to its customers. Additionally, its efforts to cut carbon emissions and develop highly energy efficient and environment-friendly products shows that environmental and sustainability issues are at the heart of its core values.''
