Chloride Acquires AES (Alternative Energy Systems)

Chloride continues to expand with purchase of standby power solutions manufacturer

Chloride, one of Europe’s leading suppliers of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and services, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of AES (Alternative Engineering Systems), a provider of generator service and supplier of generators in the Republic of Ireland.

Based in Dublin, AES delivers a high level of service for businesses that are reliant on generators, supplying units and providing planned and reactive maintenance across various market sectors, ranging from retail to healthcare. Derek McCann, Managing Director of AES, remains with the company and will continue to be responsible for all technical and commercial activities.

“The takeover by Chloride is an extremely positive move for us and our customers, and the first of its type in the Irish market,” said McCann. “The ability to cross sell UPS and generator maintenance will provide us with good opportunities to grow the business.”

Chloride already offers a comprehensive range of critical power equipment and service support in the Republic of Ireland from its base in Dublin. AES will immediately integrate into the business, further broadening Chloride’s service network and increasing its ability to provide service and support to all aspects of the critical power infrastructure. Chloride will also phase in the sale of packaged UPS / generator solutions, providing immediate benefits for the Irish market.

“This acquisition enhances the company’s footprint and competitive position in the Republic of Ireland, allowing us to mirror the capability we have in the UK,” said Chloride UK Managing Director, Andrew Lowe. “This approach has proved to be very advantageous to our customers, especially the Facilities Management community, and I see no reason why we should not be successful in the Irish Republic. We now have a very credible offering in this territory.”
