Zero waste: on site 'green' UPS testing

2007 marked another point in Chloride’s 'green' history, with a 'zero waste' testing system being installed in the Chloride UPS Systems manufacturing plant in Castel Guelfo, Bologna. The company has always adopted a proactive approach to helping the environment and this system compliments the other procedures and standards that are already in place such as the Standard UNI EN ISO 14001, 2004.

The testing system basically recycles all electrical energy that is used during Chloride’s testing procedure, allowing the same electrical energy to be reused time and time again. Although standard testing is obligatory, Chloride has always chosen to make witness testing a central part of its portfolio. This highlights Chloride's ability to meet the most demanding protection specifications for mission critical application and to add value to their existing products and services. For a company that carries out a large number of UPS checks on a daily basis, the “zero waste” testing system is a break through solution.

Leandro Monduzzi , Vice President Operations, stated: “UPS testing is an extremely important aspect of the manufacturing process. In order to accurately asses the UPS, it is often necessary to carry out long detailed testing that can last for up to eight or ten hours. At Chloride, this testing is conducted with particular attention to environmental issues and with zero electrical energy wasted.”

This is another innovative and very effective aspect of the Chloride’s already “green” working procedures. 2005 saw the launch of the 80-NET UPS which has the ability to save up to 50% in energy consumption and more recently in 2007, Chloride was the first organization to put its name beside the Code of Conduct on energy efficiency and quality of AC UPS Systems. Environmental awareness is extremely high in Chloride.

“We are proud to have designed a long term energy saving solution that compliments our already existing green practices and which proves to our customers that we are a green organization, committed to carbon free technology testing.“ President of UPS Systems Lamberto Tassara.
