Chloride creates a new UPS milestone with 50 MVA at Canary Wharf

Chloride has reached a significant milestone at Canary Wharf, having supplied more than 50 MVA of Uninterruptible Power Supply - UPS - systems to some of the world’s leading legal and financial institutions. This is the largest concentration of Chloride UPS anywhere in the world and continues to grow as more blue chip customers move in and entrust their critical power protection to the company recently acclaimed Frost & Sullivan European UPS Company of the Year 2007.

Canary Wharf

Canary Wharf clients are among the world’s most demanding customers, as power protection is critical for their business continuity. Downtime is not an option for round-the-clock global businesses, particularly in the financial markets, where trillions of pounds change hands every minute on trading floors.

Much of this vital equipment is linked to and monitored by LIFE.net, Chloride’s industry-leading 24/7 remote monitoring and diagnostics service, with which the supplier effectively takes responsibility for the health of the UPS.

In addition to the 50 MVA of UPS solutions, Chloride has also installed over 55,000 A of CROSS static switches which maintain the integrity of the total power protection system, increase power source reliability and eliminate the high percentage of faults linked to electrical distribution problems in the system downstream of the power source.

Andrew Lowe, Managing Director Chloride

“Our ability to take the most complex power protection projects from design right through to commissioning and after-care is how Chloride has gained its reputation as an ideal partner for integrated power projects around the world”.

Another notable recent Chloride success was gaining the contract to supply Dubai International Airport with more than 600 UPS units, providing 14 MVA of UPS critical power protection. This is the largest concentration of three-phase UPS anywhere in the Middle-East. The operational status of every unit is monitored constantly, using Chloride’s ManageUPS CIO software, and information reported directly to the airport building management and flight control systems.
