Chloride commitment to the environment
Chloride Group PLC acknowledges its responsibility towards everyone who is affected by the activities of the company and is committed to the highest environmental and customer service standards.
Chloride SpA operates a Quality Management System which complies with BS-EN ISO 9001-2000 for the design, manufacture, sale, installation, maintenance and service of uninterruptible power supply systems.
It is the responsibility of all Chloride employees to ensure that our business performs in accordance with its ethical commitment guarantee, as set out in guidelines produced by the Board of Directors. Issues pertaining to environmental emissions are prevented or quickly identified, controlled and resolved, whereas new objectives for the reduction of pollution are constantly developed through a continuous review of business processes.
The disposal of all waste materials is carried out in compliance with all local legislation through authorized discharge channels in order to recycle as much as possible, and to prevent any environmental impact. The handling of battery waste, the only hazardous waste managed by Chloride, is performed by allowing for the recycling of lead and preventing acid dispersion in the environment.
Despite the fact that UPS are not referred to in the European Union RoHS Directive (2002/95/EC “Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electronic Equipment”), Chloride is leading with its voluntary and active commitment to avoid the use of the substances specified in the RoHS Directive when it is certain that the operation and reliability of the UPS will not be compromised. Chloride also meets and anticipates the standards specified in the WEEE Directive (2002/96/EEC “Waste of Electrical & Electronic Equipment”), which sets waste collection and recycling requirements. Chloride is not obliged to make this decision, but does so in order to continue to set standards for the industry and conduct business in an exemplary manner.
Chloride is also strongly committed to optimizing efficiency and reducing energy consumption for all of its products. Due to this, in 2006 the Berkley Lab recognized the 90-NET as one of the most efficient double-conversion products of its kind on the market.
Furthermore, its products are developed to minimize energy consumption up to 50% lower than competitors. For example, the 80-NET proves to save energy in two ways: lower consumption and lower the need for cooling heat rejection caused by different equipments.
Our Environmental Policy and Management Systems complies with EN ISO 14 001. Chloride is committed to developing environmentally sustainable products and manufacturing processes which meet or exceed all national and international regulations which they are subject and continues to adhere strictly to any decision related to these and other European Directives.
